Getting the Most Out of Estate Auctions

Are you looking to spruce up your home with new furniture, decorative pieces, or antiques? We recommend attending estate auctions to find some great buys! There’s always a large selection of household items to choose from, so chances are you may find something that catches your eye!
Here are some tips when attending estate auctions:
- Arrive early to view the estate: The estate is usually open before the auction, for potential bidders to look at what’s being auctioned off, and to decide if there’s anything they want. Arrive early to inspect the items. What is the condition of the item? Does it need to be repaired? These are some questions you will need to consider, as you factor it in your budget for the item.
- Bring measuring tape: For any furniture or bigger decorative pieces that you’re looking to bid on, it’s a good idea to bring a measuring tape to help you decide if you have room in your home for it.
- Let others start the bid: You don’t always have to be the first one to set the bid, as your bid will contribute to increasing the bid to a higher price. However, auctions can run fast, so once you see the bid increasing, it’s time to jump in with your bid.
- Don’t leave too early: Estate auctions could last for hours, and some people leave before it ends. This means it’s a perfect opportunity to find pieces at great deals, with less competition!
