Common Questions Asked About Antique Auctions

Antique auctions are always a popular venue to find new furniture for your home, or find collectibles at a great value. For first-time auction attendees, navigating around the rules for auctions may seem confusing. Don’t worry though, we have prepared some answers to questions you may find yourself asking!

  1. What kind of items can be found at antique auctions? The great thing about antique auctions is that there is no particular limit to what type of item constitutes as an antique (other than age). So you can find anything ranging from furniture, ceramics and silverware, to paintings and jewelry.
  1. What does the term “as is” mean? This means that items that you find at the auction will be sold in the condition it is in. The auction company doesn’t provide warranties or guarantees of the state the item is in. We recommend customers should make an informed decision, and thoroughly inspect the items before bidding on them.
  1. Do auction companies deliver? Some auction companies may provide this service. The best way to know is to contact the company prior to the auction. If there is a cost, you can prepare for it. Alternatively, you may find it more cost-effective to arrange for the transportation yourself.
